Job summary

It takes all types of people to save and improve lives. We are looking an experienced Programme Support Officer at NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT), to play a vital role in helping Organ Donation and Transplant programmes and projects run effectively and deliver real impact. You will have a comprehensive understanding of programme and project support procedures, governance, and a recognised qualification. Working closely with project and programme managers, you'll coordinate a wide range of activities, maintain programme systems and records, support governance processes, and provide accurate reporting that helps informed decision-making.

You'll be at the centre of programme delivery, ensuring information is organised, risks and issues are tracked, meetings run smoothly, and stakeholders receive the support they need. This is an opportunity to contribute to meaningful organisational change while developing your expertise in programme and project management within a purpose-driven NHS organisation.

Main duties of the job

  • Maintain programme management systems, records, and controls, including risk, issue, and change logs.
  • Support programme governance processes and ensure compliance with NHSBT standards, policies, and recognised methodologies.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and distribute documentation and reports for programme governance meetings.
  • Monitor programme progress, identify variances, and highlight risks or issues to Programme Managers.
  • Organise meetings, take formal minutes, track actions, and provide logistical support for governance forums.
  • Manage and maintain programme change control records, ensuring updates are accurately documented and communicated.
  • Analyse programme data and produce clear reports, presentations, and insights to support decision-making.
  • Monitor programme-related financial information and support financial reporting activities.
  • Provide guidance to colleagues and project teams on programme administration processes, tools, and reporting standards.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance programme processes and ways of working.
