Job summary

You will perform GMP grade production of novel Gene therapy clinical grade products, such as Viral Vectors at the Clinical Biotechnology Centre on behalf of NHSBT, in support of ground-breaking clinical trials. You will undertake or contribute to process development activities to support the process improvements or investigations for the Viral Vector Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) production service leading to release of reports and / or products.

There are many opportunities for career advancement and progression within NHSBT with experience, from managing a section of the laboratory, right through to being a consultant lead with responsibility for the entire laboratory service. You may use your knowledge to specialise in an area vital to the operation of a modern manufacturing and / or diagnostic service, training and education or research and development.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will be required to:

  • Perform GMP grade production of Viral Vectors and Gene therapy products at the Clinical Biotechnology Centre on behalf of NHSBT in support of clinical trials for our clients
  • Support process development activities for Viral vector GMP production service leading to improvement of processes for manufacturing
  • Assisting in maintaning of GMP cleanroom and completion of Quality Management activities
  • Problem solve with the ability to work on own initiative as part of a team
  • Write Scientific reports to support GMP manufacturing for internal and external review
You will be required to provide cover in times of operational difficulty, with notice.
