Job summary

The MRI Clinical Lead will play a key role in the leadership, oversight, and advancement of MRI clinical services across the group. This role combines clinical expertise, strategic leadership,education and training proficiency and operational support to deliver exceptional patient care, uphold quality standards, and support the professional development of MRI staff.

The ideal candidate will be dedicated to promoting best practices in radiology and contributing to the continuous improvement of MRI services within the organisation bringing in innovative solutions that keep patient safety and outcomes as the priority alongside staff development and support.

Role: MRI Clinical Lead

Location: Home base with regular travel to our sites & head office

This leadership role covers clinical, educational and research areas, ensuring excellence in service delivery and patient care across the UK and the opportunity to innovate with impact.

What you will do:

The MRI Clinical Lead will play a key role in the leadership, oversight, and advancement of MRI clinical services across the group. This role combines clinical expertise, strategic leadership,education and training proficiency and operational support to deliver exceptional patient care, uphold quality standards, and support the professional development of MRI staff. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to promoting best practices in radiology and contributing to the continuous improvement of MRI services within the organisation bringing in innovative solutions that keep patient safety and outcomes as the priority alongside staff development and support.

Role Responsibilities:

Clinical Leadership:

  • Provide expert oversight to MRI teams, ensuring high-quality, safe imaging services.
  • Chair the MR Safety Group and participate in Clinical Quality meetings.
  • Develop and implement clinical policies, protocols, and best practices.
  • Maintain hands-on clinical competencies as a role model for the team.

Quality Assurance & Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with CQC, QSI, and relevant regulations.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives and oversee patient feedback.
  • Act as Medical Device Safety Officer and drive clinical excellence.

Team Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and support MRI radiographers in professional growth.
  • Oversee competency pathways for apprentices and graduates.
  • Facilitate training, CPD activities, and promote research-focused learning.
  • Support performance management and appraisals.

Operational Oversight:

  • Collaborate with operational teams to optimise workflows and resource management.
  • Assist in recruitment, onboarding, and retention of MRI staff.

Strategic Development:

  • Identify opportunities for service expansion and integrate new technologies like AI.
  • Contribute to business cases and represent MRI at key meetings.

Patient Care & Safety:

  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and promote patient-centred care.

Research:

  • Support MRI-related clinical trials, data collection, and research compliance.
  • Assist with research projects and contribute to publications and presentations.
You will have:
  • HCPC registration as a Diagnostic Radiographer.
  • Significant experience in MRI scanning with demonstrated expertise in various MRI modalities (e.g., neuro, musculoskeletal, cardiac).
  • Proven leadership experience within a clinical setting, with a strong background in staff supervision, education and training and mentorship.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant regulatory and safety standards
  • Postgraduate qualifications or specialist MRI training.
  • Experience in managing or contributing to quality assurance programs.
  • Demonstrated involvement in service development projects or implementation of new MRI technologies.
  • Experience of both the NHS and independent sector
