Job summary

Are you a qualified Pharmacy Technician looking to make a real difference in how medicines are managed and used within a prison setting? Were looking for a motivated and skilled Pharmacy Technician to provide technical support on pharmaceutical matters and those pertaining to medicines management to the IOM Prison Healthcare service. The post holder will work alongside the Band 6 Lead pharmacy technician for the prison and the nursing and medical teams working within prison healthcare, including DAT and psychiatry clinicians.

Main duties of the job

This will involve significant liaison with GP Surgeries, community pharmacies and prison personnel. There are opportunities to improve the care of prison clients in supporting medication reviews, multi-disciplinary team meetings and clinical governance meetings, and a key part of the role will be management of the prison dispensary and medication administration rounds at the prison.

Essential

  • BTEC in pharmaceutical science or NVQ Level 3 supported by appropriate underpinning knowledge from BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences, NPA or equivalent qualification
  • Registered as a Practising Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Certified as an Accredited Checking Technician, or willingness to work toward this
  • Post-registration qualifications: management/leadership certificates, clinical certificates or diploma or willing to work towards
  • Satisfactory Police Check
