We are looking to recruit a detail oriented, experienced, enthusiastic Band 7 Defence Pathology Quality Manager to join our team at the Centre of Defence Pathology in Birmingham.
This is a full time role consisting of 37.5 hours per week.

Main duties of the job
We are looking to appoint a talented leader who will have a key role in
coordinating and managing the quality assurance systems for Defence Pathology.
You will provide expertise and understanding of various components of quality
management systems to meet International Organisation for Standardisation
(ISO)15189 and Blood Safety and Quality Regulations.
A key focus of the role will be to develop quality systems to meet
United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) requirements. This post requires
tenacity, well developed technical knowledge and practice to maintain an
organisational influence that will positively develop our ability to
sustainably deliver a high-quality pathology service. You should be able to
demonstrate continuous learning and experience of successfully delivering
quality improvement projects. It is essential that you have a graduate
qualification with a quality management element. You should also have comprehensive
knowledge and proven experience of laboratory quality management systems. If you are

Job responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Maintaining, developing, and delivering a quality management system compliant with ISO 15189 and Blood Safety and Quality regulations (2009 as amended) to meet MHRA and UKAS requirements.
- Engaging with defence pathology stakeholders in the quality management system. Work collaboratively with the Responsible Person (Blood) to ensure that the Blood establishment requirements are met. Supporting the education and training of defence pathology personnel in the principles and practices of quality management and use of electronic Quality Management System (eQMS).
- Ensuring that processes needed for quality management are established, implemented, and maintained and are inclusive of all stakeholders.
- Participating in pathology meetings, decision-making and quality policy implementation.
- Providing professional support to Defence Pathology stakeholders and contribute to the education, training, and development of all military Biomedical scientists.
