An exciting opportunity has arisen for the recruitment of full or part time pharmacy technicians to join the Medicines Optimisation Team in NHS Midlands and Lancashire Commissioning Support Unit, supporting our regional medicines optimisation teams with a variety of medicines related projects and implementation of medicines support across our localities.
We are looking for pharmacy technicians with primary care and project management experience to support our partners achieve safe and effective medicines initiatives that improve patient care.
The role will involve working with Integrated Care System commissioners, providers, and place-based teams to manage NHS resources particularly relating to medicines

Main duties of the job
The individual will provide clinical, leadership and management skills for operational service delivery. This will include technical expertise and delivery of innovative solutions, using a project management approach.You will provide expert clinical knowledge relating to medicines optimisation.
You will be a qualified pharmacy technician with a minimum of two years post registration experience in a primary care, hospital, or community setting. You will be highly self-motivated, have excellent interpersonal/communication skills and possess sound clinical knowledge. This role will involve liaising with other healthcare professionals toimplement strategies that improve the quality, safety, cost-effective, evidence-based use of medicines across our health service.
The successful candidate will work alongside the existing team of Medicines Optimisation Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians.

The post holder will work as part of the Medicines Optimisation Team, contributing to the development and implementation of the Medicines Optimisation Strategy and Action Plan.
They will support our clients to improve the health of patients through the rational and safe use of medicines.
Responsible for the clinical and operational delivery of medicines services for designated strategic product lines with our customers.
As a pharmacy technician employed by the CSU there is a drive to develop innovation and better productivity with the delivery of all services for customers. Staff are engaged on potential developments for service delivery. There is a strong customer focus and requirement to deliver projects to meet deadlines.
This role requires mobile working with several clients to support and there is a need for self-motivation and initiative in delivering this to a high standard
The postholder will contribute to the efficient working of the Medicines Optimisation Team and support initiatives across key clinical areas in relation to Medicines Optimisation.
- To identify opportunities for transforming medicines management aspects of local services and improve the quality, safety and cost-effectiveness of medicines use.
- To complete specific projects across the CSU footprint, as required by the CSU Pharmacy Services Director.
Key Responsibilities
Planning, organisation, policy and guidance development
- To prioritise tasks and work to agreed deadlines.
- To contribute to the development of the technical aspects of the medicines management plan.
- To influence team policies through feedback and discussion.
- To promote the introduction of efficient and safe working processes at GP practices or care homes (where applicable), to optimise the quality of acute and long-term prescribing for patients and make more efficient use of practice resources (both staff time and financial).
Clinical and Patient Focus
- To undertake work in GP practices, obtaining agreement for and implementing the medicines management QIPP projects, working to agreed guidelines, policies and procedures, recommending and implementing authorised changes to individual patient medication highlighting areas of concern where appropriate
- To provide basic medication advice to patients and health care professionals, and to refer where appropriate.
- To undertake technical medication reviews or assist Medicines Management Team pharmacists with clinical medication reviews where applicable, as per local policy.
- To assist practices with primary and secondary care interface issues, as per local policy.
- To report adverse events/ drug reactions following the national yellow card scheme
- Support on all medicines optimisation core and pipeline projects as required
Education and Training
- To deliver information and training to a range of audiences including GP practice and care home staff.
- To participate in public campaigns to promote safe and effective use of medicines, including attendance at local or national groups when required.
Communication
- To liaise with and develop an effective working relationship with all our colleagues and clients
- To feedback outcomes of projects and progress with action plan to project lead, line manager and clients according to agreed project process.
