Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified Midwife to obtain the position of Labour Ward Co-ordinator within Maternity Services. There are 2 positions, 1 for 12 months temporary to cover maternity leave and 1 full time permanent post. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of the Labour Ward and providing clinical leadership for the rest of the maternity unit out of hours. They are required to promote multi-disciplinary working to ensure safe standards of care and provide clinical and professional leadership across the unit. They will work closely with the co-ordinators of the Birth Centre and Neath Port Talbot Hospital to ensure that the teams work collaboratively to deliver high standards of maternity care.
They will provide professional advice to women, their families and colleagues through their clinical leadership enabling a culture of learning.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will understand the Health Board strategic aims and their relationship to the provision of a quality maternity service for women and their families. They will hold continuing responsibility for management of and care within a clinical area and/or defined caseload, and ensure multi professional and agency, team working to ensure safe standards of care.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
