Job summary

This is a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic & keen doctor, with an interest Medicine. The post holder will provide senior support to the Medicine Teams as required by the needs of the service.

This post is fixed term to cover a Deanery vacancy.

Main duties of the job

Clinical duties are varied, including (but not limited to):

  1. Review of inpatients during morning ward rounds (including supervising more junior staff).

  1. Overseeing patients once clerked by junior staff (e.g. FY1/2) to assess potential for discharge, follow-up or need for admission and subsequent consultant review.

  1. General support for other medicine team members as needed

  1. GIM on call and ward cover

The post holder will be required to adhere to the principles of good medical practice laid down in the guidance of 'Good Medical Practice' issued by the General Medical Council.

Essential

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • Full MRCP (part 1 and 2)

Eligibility

Essential

  • Be eligible for full registration with, and hold a current licence to practise from, the GMC at the advertised post start date
  • Have evidence of achievement IMT Stage 2 competencies or equivalent, at the advertised start date in line with GMC standards/Good Medical Practice
  • Be eligible to work in the UK
  • Advanced Life Support Certificate from the Resuscitation Council UK or equivalent (as required to complete core medical competences) by intended start date.

Language Skills

  • Applicants must have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English, adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as assessed by the General Medical Council
