Main duties of the job

Line Manage and support the Rota Team, ensuring the agreed staff and teams are in place for the provision of a high quality, safe and accessible healthcare service to patients. Promote, plan and manage the delivery of an effective clinical and operational rota to deliver sustained operational efficiencies and compliance with national quality standards, seasonal variations and supporting clinicians and management in the delivery of robust services.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Annual leave
  • Attendance ensuring records are kept/actions taken in line with relevant Human Resources policies and good practice. the
  • Quality and Performance Management this includes carrying out 1:1s with your team, holding regular team meetings, and implementing coaching plans where necessary. You will be accountable for setting attainable action plans for your team in regard to addressing any development and performance issues and in the recognition of staff who excel in their delivery.
  • Staff development ensure your team receive adequate, fair training and development opportunities, including completion of mandatory training sessions
  • Communication ensuring all team members are kept up-to-date with new policies and procedures, working practices and services developments, including relevant rota, financial and legal changes.
  • Maximise performance through effective leadership, recruitment and training of all new Rota staff through sharing of knowledge and expertise. Helping to identify, develop new training requirements when necessary to enhance the quality of services delivered
  • Successfully manage all rotas and recruitment required to support the region, for both clinical and non-clinical workforces against plans and within forecasted financial budgets. Ensure effective deployment of operational and clinical resources and performance are achieved to deliver business, quality and financial objectives. This should reflect that many services require significant workforce provision at weekends, evenings and overnight.
  • Input and communicate approved schedules from managers to all clinical and non-clinical staff as required, including attending various meetings and working closely with Senior Regional Management, the National Resilience Manager and other senior colleagues as required.
  • Represent the region when required, liaising with external bodies including Commissioners, CCGs and other health-related professional organisations.
  • Escalate appropriate issues to on-call managers as necessary, ensuring any incidents, and risk management cases are recorded appropriately on the appropriate systems.
