About the Role
As a Consultant / Fertility Specialist, youll play a key role in delivering outstanding clinical care to individuals and couples on their journey to parenthood. Working closely with our Medical Director and wider clinical teams, youll help shape best practices and drive continuous improvement across our services.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide clinical services in the field of reproductive medicine as part of a multidisciplinary team. They will be responsible for ensuring that the highest standards of clinical care are delivered in line with Care objectives as well as national standards. They will work closely with the Medical Director, the medical community of the organisation and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide standardised practice across the organisation in addition to continually striving to improve and develop services further. They will be expected to actively participate in clinical governance and quality management of the local service. The post-holder will work with the Medical Director and colleagues in the management of the rota to ensure activity is achieved and consistent safe cover is available. Job Summary
Provide high-quality fertility care, including patient assessment, treatment planning, and clinical procedures, while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and promoting best practice.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
- Consult, assess, and plan treatments for patients.
- Undertake fertility-related procedures (egg collection, embryo transfer) within competency limits.
- Manage emergency admissions and arrange onward referrals.
- Ensure informed consent for all treatments.
- Provide weekend and on-call clinical cover as per rota.
- Liaise with GPs, referrers, and other specialists; communicate with patients via phone, email, or letter.
Management & Leadership
- Actively contribute to clinic and group management teams.
- Allocate workloads, ensure safe practice, and motivate team members.
- Support staff development through feedback, training, and performance reviews.
- Participate in audits, clinical governance, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Act as Quality Lead for the department and liaise with the local Quality Manager.
Governance & Compliance
- Maintain accurate records and adhere to HFEA Code of Practice.
- Comply with GMC Good Medical Practice and Care protocols.
- Report incidents via Datix and follow infection control, health & safety, and safeguarding policies.
- Ensure confidentiality and compliance with GDPR and data protection regulations.

- Engage in CPD, revalidation, and competency assessments.
- Participate in research projects, patient information events, and educational activities.
- Promote services through media and conferences.
