Job summary

Symphony Healthcare Services (SHS) are looking to appoint an experienced Healthcare Assistant (HCA) / Phlebotomist to join their Clinical Investigation Hub (CIH) based at South Petherton Medical Centre, Somerset.

You will have significant experience of working in primary care and be competent in all healthcare assistant duties, including but not limited to the following -

  • ECG recording including setting the patient up with 24-hour ECG monitoring
  • Phlebotomy (blood tests)
  • Spirometry
  • FeNO test procedure
  • Maintaining consumables
  • Ensuring samples are sent off to the laboratories
  • Keep clinical equipment in good working order and maintained/calibrated as required.

Ideal applicants will have a genuine passion for patient care, the ability to communication effectively combined with sound organisational skills, to ensure they manage their own time and workload well, while delivering timely patient care.

We have 3 days (22.5) hours vacant and work patterns (days & times) will be discussed at interview stage.

The rate of pay for this experienced role is £13.20 per hour, and you will also have the option of joining the NHS or NEST pension, which is one of many attractive SHS employee benefits. Please see attached links and poster for our full range and additional information.

Main duties of the job

  • Liaising with SSW PCN practices to ensure the CIH achieves the activity that has been set to maximise income.
  • Ensure all activity is recorded and coded appropriate to maximise income
  • Liaise with the SSW PCN Patient Participation Groups (PPGs) to ensure patient education around what the purpose of the CIH is and the service it provides to the local community
  • Liaise with the central Data and Performance Team to ensure accurate reporting
  • To support and lead on (where delegated) implementing new service areas within the CIH as agreed by the PCN Board and Somerset Foundation Trust (SFT) as the commissioning organisation.
  • To work with the PCN leadership team to continuously update and work within the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the CIH in line with national and local guidance
  • To have completed or be willing to complete the required spirometry qualifications (for both paediatrics and adults) to be able to independently undertake spirometry assessment and hold or be willing to work towards ARTP accreditation.
