Psychological Therapist

Salary scale is £28,000 to £30,000 per annum pro rata

Alliance is a leading local mental health provider delivering psychological support and emotional well-being services in a range of settings.

We are looking for an experienced Psychological Therapist to join our Alliance Plus service.

Alliance Plus offers private therapeutic services to individuals and families. We also provide organisations with comprehensive mental health and well-being solutions in the workplace.

Main duties of the job

You will be joining our busy and innovative team, delivering therapeutic services to our clients. You will provide a range of counselling interventions as part of the Alliance Plus counselling team. This post may be based within Alliance premises, working from home or within a Workplace setting elsewhere. The Postholder may at times be working as part of an Occupational Health team

You must have right to work in the UK as we are currently unable to offer working visa opportunities.

Interviews will be in person w/c 30 March 2026 in our Yarm Road Office.

Main duties and responsibilities

To work as part of the Alliance Plus Team

  • To create and maintain effective working relationships within the Counselling team, and with other referring organisations.

  • To liaise with Alliance's Administration Team regarding client referrals and appointments(or with other admin personnel where appropriate).

  • To offer advice and support to staff of referring organisations on psychological health issues, and in relation to appropriate referral pathways for employees with psychological health needs.

  • To liaise effectively when required with Occupational Health, Human Resources and other managers.

  • To attend meetings and provide information as requested

  • To provide therapeutic interventions

  • To offer primarily Face-to Face appointments, telephone and video sessions also to be included depending on client need.

  • To provide assessment, including assessing for any safety management concerns.

  • To deliver counselling interventions in collaboration with the client.

  • To work within the agreed time framework, this is ordinarily 6 sessions including assessment.

  • To make appropriate onward referrals following assessment or completion or therapy as required.

  • To maintain clients confidentiality within the agreed guidelines.

  • To provide a professional and ethical service

  • To maintain appropriate records, including the use of assessment measures and evaluation tools

  • To contribute to achieving service waiting time targets by effective caseload management.

  • To undertake relevant continued Professional Development both as required for the purposes of continued professional registration and as identified through Alliances Professional Development and Appraisal System.

  • To undertake and engage within clinical supervision.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Diploma in counselling or counselling psychology or recognised training / qualification in a major psychological therapy approach.
  • Membership of or registration with an appropriate professional body.
  • Good record of Continuing Professional Development and willingness to continue this.

Desirable

  • Accreditation with BACP, BABCP, UKCP, BPS or other recognised professional organisation.
  • Masters-level qualification.
  • IAPT- Compliant Qualification
