NHS South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board

Chief Executive

The closing date is 27 January 2026

Job summary

NHS South Yorkshire brings together partners from health, care, local government, and the voluntary and community sector to improve the health and wellbeing of people living in Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield.

We are seeking an exceptional, values-driven leader to join us as Chief Executive Officer for NHS South Yorkshire ICB. This is a senior system leadership role at a pivotal moment for the NHS, with significant opportunities to influence long-term population health and lead the transformation required to implement the Model ICB Blueprint, shaping services, reducing inequalities, supporting prevention, and ensuring resources are used effectively to deliver the best outcomes for our population.

The CEO will lead the ICBs transition into a strategic commissioner, overseeing population health strategy, resource allocation, delivery of our 2025/26 plans, and organisational redesign. Working closely with the ICB Chair, partners, our communities and the executive team, the postholder will ensure that NHS South Yorkshire delivers high-quality, sustainable, outcome-focused services for local people.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a leader who can demonstrate a clear commitment to NHS values and compassionate, inclusive leadership. Someone who can show openness, integrity and the ability to create a positive, people-centred culture, and who can foster a culture of effective partnership and collaborative working across organisational and sector boundaries.

Candidates will have a substantial record of experience as a CEO or board-level leader in a complex, regulated, consumer-facing environment, and will have successfully led significant organisational or system-wide transformation. They will have deep understanding of health, care and local government systems, and the wider determinants of health, and experience developing and delivering long-term strategies that improve outcomes and value.

If you are energised by strategic and system-wide transformation, and the ability to collaborate with a breadth of engaged and supportive partners, please visit Alumniglobal.com/job/SYICBCEO or contact Simon Green or Rabiya Ali at Alumni Global on +7421 533 671 and via email at Rabiya.Ali@alumniglobal.com for further information and a confidential discussion.

Applicants at risk of redundancy that meet the essential criteria will be guaranteed an interview.
