Job summary

Leeds Community Musculoskeletal Service is investing in training and developing the future MSK workforce and are looking to recruit to exciting new developmental band 6 posts. You would join a supportive team of physiotherapists, Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioners (APP) and MSK Doctors.

We currently work from a range of health centres and GP practices across the city. You will be supported /have protected time to develop your skills in preparation for progressing to a Band 7 role upon completion of agreed competencies.

Roles available are: 2 posts - Core MSK & FCP developmental Band 6-7

Main duties of the job

We are looking for enthusiastic physiotherapists who have significant experience of treating MSK patients autonomously and are keen to further develop their MSK skills. These roles are not suitable for newly qualified physiotherapists.

You will be required to manage a varied MSK caseload, working in a fast paced environment and it is essential you are aspiring to work in a First Contact Physiotherapy (FCP) role.

Developmental band 6 roles require completion of a range of competencies in order to progress to a specialist band 7 post. The service will support your development and you will be aligned to an appropriate mentor.

You will be supported to complete the FCP roadmap via the taught or supported portfolio route, determined by a Learning needs Analysis with a Higher Education Institute,

Job Purpose

The post holder will be responsible for their own caseload within their speciality area as an autonomous practitioner. In doing so, they will assess, plan, deliver and evaluate patient centred programmes of care to a specialist level ensuring that they practice within their sphere of competence and knowledge. The post holder will work to professional and regulatory body codes, standards and guidance at all times ensuring that their practice is grounded in evidence based theoretical and practical knowledge.

1.7. Prioritises their own workload, and that of the wider team, within agreed objectives deciding when to refer to others as appropriate.

1.8. Provides and receives complex, sensitive or contentious information where motivational, persuasive, empathetic, negotiating and reassurance skills are required whilst demonstrating an understanding of barriers to communication
