Job summary

We are offering a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Dietitian to develop their specialist experience within community neurological rehabilitation. This post will be split across the Community Neurological Rehabilitation Team and the Community Stroke Rehabilitation Team, leading a small team of dietitians and working within a multidisciplinary team.

We require a Dietitian with proven experience of working with neurological conditions, complex case management and multidisciplinary team working, as well as a willingness to embrace an interdisciplinary approach. We are looking for a self-motivated, team player who will continue to promote their profession whilst being flexible and supportive to the needs of our passionate and collaborative teams. In return, as well as regular clinical supervision and appraisals, we have regular in-service training and other CPD opportunities.

The role will consist of a 50:50 split between the Community Neurological Rehabilitation Team and the Community Stroke Rehabilitation Team.

Main duties of the job

You will carry out a clinical caseload in both teams supporting complex patients with a range of neurological conditions. Your role will be to optimise patients nutritional wellbeing in a range of dietetic domains including oral nutritional support, weight management, diabetes, home enteral feeding, and stroke secondary prevention, which in turn helps people meet their rehab goals.

The right person will have skills in behaviour change and understand the physical, cognitive, psychological and communication barriers that our patients face in managing lifestyle changes.

You will use complex case management skills and a multidisciplinary approach to meet the needs of patients. You will provide line management and support to the Band 6 dietitians and provide dietetic leadership, clinical supervision and service development across both teams.

There will be opportunities for complex case management, audit and service development, with regular clinical supervision. You will also deliver staff training and assess competencies in key nutritional areas e.g. in nutritional screening and delivery of first line nutritional advice.

You will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team consisting of occupational therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists, speech and language therapists, nurses, rehabilitation consultants, therapy assistant practitioners. The role is for 18.75 hours per week.
