Job summary

The Data Analyst role will work across the Equality and Inclusion function to provide expertise and support in the handling, processing and analysis of all Equality, Diversity & Inclusion related data.

The role will play a key role in enhancing the organisation's ability to gain valuable insight into service user, health and workplace inequalities and support the E&I team in driving changes that will create meaningful and measurable change in line with our Strategy.

The post holder will take responsibility to help deliver and maintain the BCHC EDI agenda with particular accountability for sourcing and analysing data, to support the inclusion agenda. Other duties will also include working collaboratively with the EDI team members to present complex data.

Main duties of the job

  • Work as a core member of the Equality & Inclusion (E&I) Team, working closely with the Head of Equality & Inclusion to drive improvements in use of Equality data and its analysis within the Trust.
  • Assist in streamlining the Trust E&I information reporting processes and ensuring appropriately analysed information is available to aid policy decisions in a timely manner.
  • To develop and build third party relationships with key internal stakeholders, where appropriate, to ensure a high level of Customer Service to the Divisions and colleagues across the Trust.
  • Design, implement, and continually improve robust business intelligence solutions to meet the requirements at an internal and external level, ensuring that appropriate methods and NHS standards are considered.
  • Ensure that all E&I information produced across the department adheres to the development methodology. Working with the other senior E&I staff and stakeholders within the Trust to monitor and support the improvement of internal information reporting. Working to ensure no duplication of E&I Data reports and provide assurance to the Director of Equality and Inclusion that all internal E&I information is fit for purpose and agreed data sets are available through the Trust and Divisional Performance Dashboards.
  • Support the development and effective use of E&I data across the wider E&I Team.

  • Degree level qualification in a relevant subject or equivalent
  • Qualification in advanced IT Use (e.g. Microsoft Office specialist Excel, Microsoft Access)

Experience

  • Significant experience in an analytical role
  • Experience of managing or leading projects.
  • Experience of analysing data (workforce, patient data) and producing reports based on this.
  • Experience of developing and delivering training programmes.
  • Experience of project management.
  • Experience of undertaking qualitative and quantitative research.
  • Experience of having collected, collated, quality assured and analysed data.
  • Experience of building effective working relationships outside of an immediate team.

Skills/Knowledge

  • Have a good understanding of NHS Standards requirements (WRES, WDES, EDS2, AIS).
  • Able to apply expert knowledge of equality legislation and best practice in the context of a complex organisation
