Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated podiatrist to join our team, working in a vibrant and multi-cultural community, where there is a high incidence of diabetes.

We welcome applications from clinicians currently working at band 6 or 7. Ideally you will have at least two years' experience of managinga caseload of High Risk and Active Ulcer Diabetic foot patients and have good knowledge of diabetic wound management

We provide high quality podiatric care and diabetes foot protection for those individuals at risk of developing serious foot health complications. The aim of the service is to prevent avoidable amputations and reduce unplanned emergency care or hospital admission.

Main duties of the job

As an Advanced Podiatrist you will take a leading role within the team, applying specialist knowledge and skills to the diagnosis, assessment and management of complex patients. You will provide evidence-based care for patients with diabetes, presenting with moderate to high-risk foot needs, including active ulceration and potential foot emergencies.

You will implement clinically safe treatment packages within service resource and support waiting lists safely. You will also keep excellent and timely clinical records.

The role requires autonomous working within the multidisciplinary team and to step up to secondary care Diabetes Foot MDT clinic as required to optimise patients' outcomes and to ensure safe effective care

Provision of diabetes foot health education and support for self-management in patients with complex needs is central to the role, as is the support of less experienced staff through clinical supervision and leadership.

You will be responsible for a defined population of service users across the Trust including community clinics and domiciliary and hospital settings.
