Job summary

To work as part of a multidisciplinary team within the Integrated Diabetes Service Diabetes Foot Team providing a specialist seamless pathway to deliver and provide high quality and safe effective podiatric care to diabetic patients across East Lancashire Hospitals Trust with Consultants, Diabetes Specialist Nurses, Orthotists, other Health Care Professionals and other support staff in the prevention of foot ulceration, management of foot ulceration and reduce the potential for lower limb amputation

Main duties of the job

To take podiatric responsibility within the Integrated Diabetes Service Diabetes Foot Team under the supervision/ delegation of a Specialist Podiatrist undertaking therapeutic assessment, ascertain clinical diagnosis and the management of diabetic patients presenting with diabetic foot complications, including patients with additional pathologies such as Peripheral Vascular Disease, Renal Disease, Neuropathy, Rheumatology and any other medical condition which reduces tissue viability

To be the Podiatrist clinician in the Integrated Diabetes Service Diabetes Foot Team which covers a wide range of care settings including hospital in-patient and outpatient services, community hospitals and other care settings where required 7 days a week based upon the patient's individual needs

To provide advice and implement individual treatment plan for patients, carers, Hospital Staff, District Nursing Staff, Treatment Room Nurses, Consultants, GPs, other healthcare professionals and Podiatry colleagues for diabetic patients with complex and highly complex diabetic foot conditions.

To assess, diagnose and provide a comprehensive range of treatments by means of various techniques and equipment to manage various foot disorders for which appropriate training has been given and provide programmes of care assessment and diagnosis to patients with complex pathologies (ischaemia, diabetes, neuropathy, and ulceration) following referrals direct from GP/Consultant, other healthcare professionals and Podiatry colleagues.
