Job summary

The Operating Theatres team at Wycombe Hospital is proud of the safe and effective care which we deliver. We are now looking for a self-motivated, experienced theatre scrub practitioner to take on this exciting and challenging role in our team. As the elective surgery site for the Trust, our department support operations across a range of specialities, including ENT, General surgery, Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, Plastic surgery, Robotic surgery and Urology.

This competency-based programme is a key part of our vision for an efficient, compassionate peri-operative environment, which provide exceptional care for our patients and fully supports our staff in delivering this.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be a Registered Nurse/Operating Department Practitioner with substantial scrub experience in the relevant range of specialities at band 5. You will be responsible for leading a theatre team on a day to day basis, whilst supporting the longer-term planning of care delivery within one specific speciality. You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to work using your own initiative as well as working effectively within a team.

You will:

o Be a NMC registered nurse or HCPC registered ODP with a minimum experience of 2 years as a band 5 within theatres.

o Be motivated and enthusiastic about your own professional development and keen to enhance skills and competencies within the team.

o Have a recognised mentorship qualification or be prepared to gain this.

o Demonstrate a good understanding of the importance of supportive and flexible team working.

Only scrub practitioners with significant post-qualification theatre experience will be considered. Successful candidates will demonstrate an appreciation for the importance of care in surgery and provide evidence that they share our values, Collaborating with colleagues and service users, Aspiring to improve, Respecting the choices, wishes and attitudes of others and Enabling others to achieve their potential.
