Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Nurse Associate/ Associate Practitioner to join our team on Aldham Ward at Colchester Hospital.

Aldham Ward is a specialized unit focused on the care and recovery of patients undergoing orthopaedic surgeries and treatment. We are 27 bedded ward and typically handle cases involving joint replacements, fractures, and other musculoskeletal conditions, providing both pre and post-operative care.

You will be required to have the relevant Qualifications and hospital setting experience to be eligible for this post. However for candidates with less experience qualification, we are willing to support you through the Nurse Associate apprenticeship.

Main duties of the job

  • Ensure that safe, effective and holistic patient care is delivered
  • Assist patients to fulfil the activities of daily living
  • With direction of the registered professional, assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual programmes of care in partnership with patients and relatives/carers
  • Accurately observe patient's condition and initiate appropriate action as required escalate to the registered professional
  • If appropriately qualified administer medication safely to patients
  • Actively participate in effective discharge planning
