Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 physiotherapist to join our chest physiotherapy outpatients department as a fixed term or secondment post until 31/3/2024 working up to 13 hours a week.
This post offers the chance to work with patients with a wide variety of respiratory conditions; including those with bronchiectasis, chronic cough, breathlessness in long covid, difficult asthma, tracheobronchomalacia, breathing pattern disorders and ILO / EILO.
This is post is based in the chest physiotherapy outpatients department at Ipswich Hospital and would involve a combination of face to face and virtual appointments.
Main duties of the job
Undertaking a physiotherapy role in delivering the highest quality of care to patients requiring outpatient respiratory physiotherapy.
To take a lead role in the advanced assessment and treatment of patients, including those with bronchiectasis, frequent chest infections, chronic cough, tracheobronchomalacia, difficult to manage asthma, breathlessness in long covid, breathing pattern disorders, ILO / EILO. To determine clinical diagnosis and physiotherapy treatment indicated, and to maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.
To liaise with MDT colleagues when required; offering evidence based support and advice in the best interest of the patient.
To mentor, develop, supervise and support more junior members of the physiotherapy team.
To follow professional standards and guidelines from the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Respiratory Care and Special Interest Groups.
To contribute to the achievement of trust and service objectives, facilitating improvements to service delivery as necessary. This includes proposing changes that will impact on the MDT and patient's pathways of care.
To take a lead role in the delivery of the specialised educational programme to a range of physiotherapists and members of the MDT, undertaking teaching and competence assessment.
