Community Midwife for Equitable Health
The York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals are pleased to announce an opportunity community midwifery service on the East Coast.The role will provide personalised antenatal and postnatal care to women and birthing people who experience vulnerabilities.
The aim is to improve health equity in the Scarborough region.
Our ambition is to address health inequalities through targeted Community Midwifery support.

Main duties of the job
As a Band 6 case loading midwife, you will deliver personalised care. Characteristics of your caseload include asylum-seeking , teenage pregnancies, drug and alcohol misuse, significant safeguarding concerns and those in prison.
Your opportunities will include implementation of the maternity disadvantage tool, further development of local agreed policy and guidance and demonstrable impact on the well being of the community through audit.
You will build close working relationships with key stakeholders and specialists, including the MDT, Social Care for Adults and Children, Safeguarding Leads and other key services.
This is an opportunity for a midwife with a passion for equality and advocacy. With effective communication skills and an organised professional, you will be dedicated to service development and improvement, through student support, MDT working and knowledge sharing.

- Minimum of 1 year's post registration experience as a midwife and completion of a preceptorship programme
- Evidence of planned professional development
- Experience of working within the community setting as a registered midwife
Desirable
- Experience in project or practice development work
- Completion of a recognised student assessor training and be experienced in the assessment process of student midwives
Qualifications and Skills

- Registered midwife at Degree/Diploma level
- Excellent communication skills; verbal, written and IT

- Experience of supporting a varied caseload of women with additional complexities /vulnerabilities
