Job Title: Healthcare Science Project Support Officer

Grade: Healthcare Scientist Assistant Practitioner - AfC Band 4

Fixed Term for 10 months from start date

Hours: 22.5hrs (0.6WTE)

Applications are invited from enthusiastic and motivated individuals for this NHS England funded fixed term post based in the Medical Physics Department within the Healthcare Technology Group at Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (DCHFT).

The successful applicant will provide project management support to the Lead Healthcare Scientist in enabling departments within the Trust employing Clinical Scientists, Technologists and Engineers to work together and to make the most of external funding and other opportunities to develop staffing and other resources in order to better support the services delivered to patients.

This post will be treated as a proof of concept to show that it is of benefit to the Trust and the Healthcare Science services, so that it can be made permanent at the end of the project, including the potential to be increased to 1.0WTE to provide additional support to the Medical Physics Department.

No specific qualifications are required for this role as appropriate in-house training will be provided as necessary, however the post-holder will preferably have some experience in administrative support to a Healthcare Science department, and of managing databases.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will support the Lead Healthcare Scientist in disseminating information from NHS England on opportunities for funding training and apprenticeships and other staff resourcing initiatives to the Healthcare Science specialties. The post also supports other areas of activity that contribute to maintaining and improving the provision of services to patients by the Trust, such as organising and minuting meetings of senior service managers for Healthcare Science specialties, liaising with the lead Allied Healthcare Professional to the Trust, and supporting networking for all Healthcare Science staff across the Trust.

You will:o Be able to prioritise your own workload and work unsupervised.o Have good communication skills (including telephone) to ensure effective working relationships, both inside and outside the Trust.You have:o Experience of working in a teamo Experience of a customer-facing, technical role and/or senior secretarial / administrative position providing service/project/programme support.o Good basic education and computer skills, including experience of databases.

Essential

  • General Education to GCSE Level
  • NVQ Level 3 in relevant subject (e.g. business administration) or equivalent

Desirable

  • European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) or equivalence

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Experience in a senior secretarial or administrative position providing service/project/programme support
  • Experience of working with databases, asset management systems or computer systems in a commercial or healthcare environment.
