Job summary

We are looking for a Radiographer/Dosimetrist in radiotherapy to support the treatment planning service in Radiotherapy Physics. The successful candidate will be expected to be involved in the day to day operations of treatment planning within the radiotherapy service, which will include routine IMRT/VMAT/SABR techniques. There will also be opportunities to support clinical trials and other service developments within the department as well as training other staff groups.

It is preferred that candidates have proven experience in producing radiotherapy treatment plans however this is not an essential requirement and candidates without experience will be considered. Candidates should have the ability to prioritise their own workload and work under pressure and flexibly in a dynamic environment.

About us

The Royal Free Radiotherapy service has 2 Varian Truebeam linear accelerators, Xstrahl system, a Canon (Toshiba) large bore CT-scanner (due to be replaced in 2024), access to PET and MRI and the Philips Pinnacle treatment planning system ver16.2 (expected replacement early 2025). Varian's Aria ver 17 patient management system integrates the service with the accredited quality management system supported on "Q-Pulse". The service has a well-established VMAT/IMRT and SABR workload with the SABR service implementing or supporting all the tumour sites within the NHSE SABR expansion program.

Education & professional Qualifications

Essential

  • BSc(Hons) Therapeutic radiography or other science based subject or equivalent
  • State Registration as a Therapeutic Radiographer or eligibility for registration on the Voluntary Register for Technologists as a Radiotherapy Physics Technologist.

  • Able to communicate complex clinical and technical information and negotiate an appropriate course of action with other healthcare professionals.
