Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join our supportive Clinical Health Psychology (CHP) team and gain valuable experience as an aspiring psychologist in a clinical setting.
The service is passionate that the psychological care professions workforce reflects the diversity of the communities we serve. We are aware that individuals from ethnic minorities, disadvantaged socioeconomic demographics and young carers face additional barriers to careers in psychological professions. This funded post has been developed with the intention of offering a clinical work experience opportunity for individuals who might otherwise not be able to pursue a career within the psychological professions.
This post will support psychologically informed care for people with physical health conditions directly such as co-facilitating groups as well as contributing to the indirect work of the service such as through audit and evaluation. The post-holder will work across Adult, Paediatric, Staff Support and Psycho-oncology specialisms, working alongside Psychologists, Psychological Therapists, Trainees, and Multi-Disciplinary Teams. There will be an opportunity to gain clinical experience and develop skills relevant to a career in Clinical Psychology.
Main duties of the job
- To enhance psychologically informed care through supporting service clinicians in their delivery of individual, family and group intervention, under clinical supervision.
- Assisting with the administration, scoring, interpretation and feedback of outcome measures.
- Support the service model of indirect work by assisting in the development and delivery of teaching, training and consultation with teams and non-psychologically trained practitioners.
- Undertake audit, service evaluation and research projects to aid service developments.
- Support Patient Engagement developments in the service
- The service will be provided across a number of bases in the acute and community setting as well as some home working. The main CHP base is at Torbay Hospital.
