Job summary
Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust are looking to recruit a Clinical Scientist to work in the Department of Physics and Nuclear Medicine, on a fixed term basis (9 months) to cover maternity leave.
The post would suit someone experienced looking for a fixed term contract or a newly registered Clinical Scientist.
The department currently has three gamma cameras; 2x SPECT/CT systems (a GE Discovery 670 and a GE Infinia Hawkeye 4) plus one SPECT system (GE Discovery 630). The department uses a GE Xeleris 4DR platform with additional processing capabilities with ImageJ.
We also run the national Krypton service which operates nearby from the University of Birmingham.
The catalogue of studies we perform is highly varied and the department has developed a reputation for research and development in nuclear medicine. As well as diagnostic imaging, we perform therapy procedures using I-131 (thyrotoxicosis) and Y-90 (synovectomy), as well as carrying out non-imaging studies.
Main duties of the job

In 2024, we will be moving into a brand new home nearby, the new Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH). This will be equipped withthree32-slice Siemens Pro.specta SPECT/CT systems in a spacious new department.
You will play an active role in the commissioning of this new equipment and support the team of three physicists with all aspects of the service to include regulatory compliance.
The department has a strong team ethic and your development will benefit from working closely with the Clinical Scientists, Clinical Technologists, Nurses, administrative team, and Clinicians including both our ARSAC license holders. This will include taking part in multi-disciplinary reporting sessions as well as an active role in research and development.
There will be opportunity to attend and participate in national meetings to aid your development.
