Job summary

If you interested in joining our small, supportive, and enthusiastic Pastoral and Spiritual Care team, we are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Band 5 Chaplain.

You will be based at Fieldhead, Wakefield with visits to other Trust sites as required.

As a chaplain you will support the work of the Pastoral and Spiritual Care department and be responsible for visiting in-patient services and community sites across the Trust when requested to by the senior chaplain.

You will provide spiritual and pastoral care to service users, families, carers, and staff across the Trust.

All employees of the Trust are strongly encouraged to have their up-to-date flu vaccination to protect staff and patients.

Main duties of the job

The role involves responding to referrals, supporting people through times of emotional or spiritual distress, and contributing to the wider wellbeing of our diverse population. You will respond to requests for visits (either by referral or when attending the wards)

The successful candidate will form good working relationships with staff, service users and carers. You may be requested to attend MDT meetings and ward reviews and will attend Chaplaincy update meetings

In addition, the successful candidate will have the confidence and spiritual grounding to support people of faith or none, diverse backgrounds, cultures and religions. who have complex mental health and learning disability needs.

8. To be able to make independent judgement regarding spiritual care

9. To work within the professional guidelines and codes of practice as laid down by the relevant Chaplaincy Governing Bodies.

  • Evidence of study to degree level or equivalent in relevant discipline

Desirable

  • Honours degree (or Faith Community Equivalent) in a related subject (e.g. Theology
