An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Night Escort to be part of our Urgent
Community Response (UCR) team in Barnsley. Our UCR team provide a 24/7 service
supporting patients in crisis situations with the aim to avoid hospital
admission & to keep them at home or in their place of residence.
The role will provide support to the nursing team on an evening in line
with lone working risk assessments. Staff will be based at Oaks Park Kendray &
go out with nursing teams when they are called out to a crisis call during
night-time hours.
The service work 7 days per week, 365 days per year.
Night shifts cover the hours of 21:30 07:30
Staff will occasionally be required to undertake training &
supervision during daytime hours as part of their contract. Additional night
shifts may be available dependent upon demands

Main duties of the job
Successful candidates will be working across the
Barnsley area therefore the use of a vehicle to undertake any necessary travel
in connection with the duties of the post is essential.
Candidates will have the ability to use their own initiative, have good
communication skills and able to manage their time effectively. You will also
have the ability to
communicate with sensitivity and compassion and manage relationships with
people.
You will gain valuable experience & have access too, and be
supported with relevant training opportunities within the service to gain necessary skills.

Hours
available include:

able to address the basic, routine psychological and physical needs of a defined group
of people.
As part of a
healthcare team, provide the highest standards of safe and compassionate
planned care to people that maximises their recovery and rehabilitation
potential.
Develop and maintain meaningful therapeutic
relationships with people. Adopt a polite, positive and empathetic approach,
providing and receiving routine information appropriately.
Ensure the care experienced is positive and service user safety is
maintained. Treat everyone, eg,
service users, their relatives, visitors, colleagues
etc, with respect, dignity and courtesy and in accordance
with
the Trusts Values.
Follow and
ensure care is provided in accordance with well-established policies,
procedures, protocols, guidelines and established clinical care plans.
Undertake the
physical aspects of care eg, moving and handling of service users. Use items of
equipment in delivering care eg, hoists, wheelchairs etc, (as appropriate to
the role), ensuring appropriate instruction on their use has been received.
Attend to the
service users personal care needs as required.
Be required to
concentrate for periods of time, depending upon the care intervention/care plan
eg, following the observation policy, taking, recording of physical
observations etc, and raising issues of concern appropriately.
Participate in
a flexible rostering arrangement providing 24-hour/7 day care, (as appropriate
to the role).
Assist in
dealing with verbal/physical aggression using de-escalation techniques, this
may include the need for restraint and/or seclusion (as appropriate to the role
and in line with Trust policy and training
The content of this post will be reviewed in consultation with the
postholder when necessary and in line with the service developments.

- To deliver excellent levels of customer service to people, and address or report, in a timely and proactive manner, where these standards have not been met.
