Job summary
An
exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented and experienced Robotic Process
Automation (RPA) Technical Lead to join Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust as we
continue with our RPA journey.
This posts primary function is to
operationally support the automation platform and participate in all areas of
the robotic automation development lifecycle including design, scripting,
version control, testing, documentation, technical implementation, and
deployment. You will be required to work across all levels of the organisation
and across all Trust sites, to drive forward innovative automation solutions.
The post
holder will be an integral part of Digital Services and will work closely with
the RPA Project Manager to implement new RPA processes across the Trust.
The
successful candidate is required to be able to demonstrate the Trust values and
the responsibilities contained in the job description and person specification.
We seek an individual with the
additional soft skills required to engage with the wider Trust to promote the
benefits that automation brings as well as to train, support and develop others
in Digital Services to assist with RPA processes.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work closely
with the Digital Programme Management Office, Digital Services, other Trust
colleagues and 3rd party suppliers. They will be responsible for
designing, creating, testing of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) processes that
will interact with multiple third-party applications and SQL databases within
Mid Yorkshire Hospital Trust using technologies that use VB script or other
such scripting languages.
The post holder will act as the
lead technical specialist for RPA and be responsible for the design and
creation of robotic process automation (RPA) solutions and for the integration
of these into, and between, existing Trust systems. They will participate in
all areas of the robotic automation development, including design, creation,
versioning control, testing, documentation, technical implementation,
deployment and monitoring, providing cost-effective, risk-controlled, robust,
reliable, responsive and secure automation solutions.

Job description
Job responsibilities
- Working with Trust staff, the postholder will participate in all aspects of RPA process design and lead on the technical aspects of the development lifecycle
- Work with project leads on the implementation of new technology solutions, managing project deliverables in accordance with project management standards
- Demonstrate autonomy and initiative, making decisions and judgements related to each assignment within designated authority
- Ensure that all new and amended processes are robustly tested (including regression testing)
- To act as the Trust specialist in RPA and design and deliver training to other team members so that they can assist in the ongoing support of RPA processes. If the RPA team expands then the post holder will be expected to provide line management for any additional team members
- Ensure that documentation on configuration, set up and use of applications is kept up to date and is accessible
- Recommend future developments by researching latest RPA technologies and ensuring that robotic automation is developed in a cost-effective and professional manner.
- Ensure project needs are met whilst maintaining system security and data integrity.
Maintaining test and live environment of RPA software at the Trust, including managing updates/upgrades.
- Participate in the relevant governance forums to ensure that changes and new processes are only deployed into the live environment once all required checks and pre-requisites are in place according to the change management policy and process.
The post holder must be confident working with clinical, managerial, and other technical stakeholders and have strong interpersonal skills.
The postholder must be able to communicate complicated, difficult to explain technical issues to non-technical staff but also communicate very detailed technical information to other technical staff
The post holder will organise their own workload and will need to be responsive to variable workloads
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure that all risks are identified and included as appropriate on the risk register
- Monitor and report on performance and applying corrective action strategies as appropriate.
