Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a 0.1 wte post working with the mental health homelessness team. This team is a newly developing team in Doncaster and is part of an 18-month pilot which mobilises May 2026 and will be evaluated for success. It contributes to the Trust Promise 10; to be recognised by 2027 as an outstanding provider of inclusion health care, implementing NICE and NHSE guidelines in full, in support of Gypsy Roma and traveller (GRT), sex workers, prisoners, people experiencing homelessness and misusing substances, and forced migrants.
Rotherham, Doncaster & South Humber Trust is committed to New Ways of Working, and the successful applicant would be expected to work with the Trust and this team to develop services.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to provide appropriate psychiatric care to patients within the MHHT and provide psychiatric input into the Multi-disciplinary Team. Duties will include psychiatric assessments and ongoing management of patients appropriate for the team. Provide consultation to the MHHT team and the Mental Health Inpatient unit if people experiencing homelessness are admitted to the ward. Some of the patients may be detained under the Mental Health Act, then preparation of reports for and attendance at mental health tribunals may be required. The post holder may also be expected to liaise with colleagues in other units and occasionally assist in multi-disciplinary assessments for the suitability of patients who may be transferred to this service.
