An exciting position has become available on Endoscopy for a Band 4 Registered Nurse Associate. You will be welcomed into the team and with a comprehensive training package you will be supported to help provide an excellent service to our patients. From admitting, recovering and discharging patients to assisting the practitioners during endoscopy procedures this is a varied role with no 2 days the same. If you have a willingness to learn and are keen to gain new skills and enhance your knowledge this is the job for you.
To work as part of the multidisciplinary team to ensure effective, safe and high-quality care which is compassionate, and person centred within the endoscopy setting. To participate in the assessment, planning, implementing and evaluation of the care needs for the patient group within endoscopy.
Assist the Registered General Nurse in the provision of a safe and caring environment.

Main duties of the job
Deliver a high standard of clinical and therapeutic care within the endoscopy setting in accordance with instructions and training received.

Communicate with patients and their carers using tact, diplomacy, empathy and reassurance during potentially difficult or stressful situations or where there may be barriers to understanding.

Assist the patient to be as comfortable as possible, helping and assisting positional changes during the procedure using appropriate equipment with appropriate training. The post requires manual handling activities.
Respect the dignity and privacy of the individuals undergoing an endoscopic procedure and involve the patient in any decision- making during admission process.
Assist in therapeutic and basic endoscopy procedures within own limitations and work towards the required competence as directed by own learning portfolio with support from the Endoscopy Professional Development Team.
monitor the patient post procedure and monitor BP, Pulse, Respirations and maintain oxygen saturation in recovery.
Communicate clearly, effectively with the patient and ensure patient meets the endoscopy discharge criteria.
Participate on the out of hours on call rota

Assist in the induction, supervision and training of Healthcare Support Workers and student nurses and nursing associates.
Demonstrate a level of skill and understanding which enables them to undertake specific tasks delegated by the nurse/Allied Health Professional (AHP) in charge and in accordance with relevant procedures, guidelines and policies. The post holder will undertake both routine and specially identified tasks for which they have been trained and assessed as competent.
It is expected that Nursing Associates will be able to carry out all of the core competencies outlined in the job description, but their duties and competencies will vary according to speciality agreed extended competencies. Similar or related duties may be undertaken in support of the environment, which are not listed.
Undertake specifically identified administrative and clerical tasks associated with patient care which facilitate the smooth running of the ward/department.
Supervise, assess and mentor Healthcare Support Workers, Trainee Nursing Associates and other unregistered staff and assist in the supervision and learning of other healthcare students with the exception of their assessment.

Assist the patient to be as comfortable as possible, i.e. help with moving and positioning the patient using appropriate equipment.
Involve the patient in shared decision-making and obtain their consent before undertaking nursing procedures.
