Job summary

We are recruiting for a Biomedical Scientist who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

This role is based at Lister Hospital Pathology Department requires HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to work in the Blood Sciences laboratories, specifically within the Biochemistry discipline within the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust.

Duties will include routine operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of various analysers across the Blood Sciences disciplines. These include Roche Cobas analysers for Biochemistry, Sysmex analysers for Haematology and Grifols for Blood Transfusion.

You will be required to work 37.5 hours per week flexibly and within a shift system to cover a 24/7 service.

Staff development is vital to the organisation and support will be provided to become a multidisciplinary team member within the Blood Sciences laboratories.

Main duties of the job

You will undertake testing and processing of biomedical specimens, analysis and entering of results onto the computer

Ability to work flexibly in reflection of service needs, this may include an extended working day and/or participation in delivery of a 24 hour, 7 days per week service

Supervise and train less experienced staff in own area of work and competency

The work of this service brings staff into constant contact with human body fluids, tissues and hazardous chemicals. This may include blood, pus, urine, faeces, and respiratory secretions

Maintain and promote professional image of the Trust

Be able to use Laboratory Information system, email, internet and automated operating systems, andother software packages as required to create specialist reports
