Job summary

We are recruiting for a Lead Research Nurse who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

This is a great opportunity for personal development, where the successful candidate will be expected to deliver the daily operational management of the research nurses, research radiographers and clinical Trial practitioners at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre (MVCC). You will also be required to make decisions, in consultation with the Head of Research MVCC, about the redistribution of staff from one team to another if required and will be responsible for contributing to the R&D board, R&D steering group meetings and Senior Research Leadership team through attendance to meetings and provision of written reports.

This is a 12 months fixed term / secondment role to cover maternity leave.

Main duties of the job

To act as provider of nursing expertise and to ensure MVCC compliance for research nurses with statutory responsibilities and requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

Work planning of the clinical workforce, recruitment, appraisals, training and sickness/absence.

To provide effective senior professional leadership and maintain oversight of the research studies and the need for research support (in addition to that of their research team) at MVCC.

To facilitate the Research & Development Board Meetings and the monthly R&D Steering Group Meetings through provision of activity data and reports relating to role

To maintain a strong and current working knowledge of relevant developments regarding clinical research delivery, regulation and governance.

  • Registered Nurse on the appropriate part on the NMC register with broad clinical experience
  • Possession of a health/research related degree or equivalent
  • Background in research and development, science or healthcare
