Job summary
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic person to support the Pharmacy Preparative Services in the provision of chemotherapy to patients within the trust and a Repacking, Over-labeling and Assembly service to external customers (Assembly & Packing Unit). The manufacturing unit holds an MHRA Manufacturer's "Specials" License for its activities.
We are looking for a qualified technician with experience to join our small friendly team. You will have experience of aseptic compounding, production (Nonsterile), teamwork, staff supervision and work planning. You will also be expected to act as an expert witness for NVQ students.
You need a valid BTEC or NVQ level 3 certificates and be registered with a relevant professional body

Main duties of the job
The role will require you to provide technical pharmacy support to the Pharmacy Production/Aseptic services and ensure that all products are appropriately, efficiently and cost effectively prepared within the unit, according to the Guide to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and that Pharmaceutical guidelines relevant to aseptic dispensing, prepacking and over labelling (production) and departmental procedures are followed

To supervise the activity of Pharmacy Assistants, Student Pharmacy Technicians and rotational Pharmacy Technicians.
To perform in-process checks for aseptically prepared/manufactured products and non-sterile products, after undertaking an accreditation program.
To participate in aseptic preparation of Cytotoxic, Biological medicinal products, CIVAS and in the pre-packing & assembly service.
To provide the final technical check for prepared Aseptic and prepacked products. This includes checking of ingredients/starting components, worksheet, label, drug volumes and product integrity.
To support and participate in the maintenance of the Pharmaceutical Quality Systems within the technical services department
To ensure maintenance of the pharmacy manufacturing unit facilities (including monitoring, calibration, validation and general maintenance) is carried out
A flexible and professional approach is required. You must have excellent communication skills - written and verbal and be able to follow instructions and guidance. Able to work alone and as part of a team as well as ability to follow often complex operating procedures. You should be able to work under pressure and maintain quality standards. Be effective as part of a multi-disciplinary team and be able to adapt to meet the needs of the department/service.
