Job summary
We are seeking to appoint a conscientious experienced Biomedical Scientist, already working at Band 7/8a level, who has considerable proven experience of managing a Quality Management System (QMS) and working closely with staff at all levels to help embed a quality ethos into our ISO 15189:2012 accredited laboratories.
Applicants should be qualified to M-level, supported by qualifications in quality management with proven experience using statistical packages and Microsoft Office packages. Familiarity in the use and manipulation of the Q-Pulse document management system is also highly desirable.
The Quality Manager is an integral part of the overall Blood Sciences Laboratory management team. They will be responsible for the administration, monitoring, implementation, development, and co-ordination of the QMS for all Blood Science disciplines on all sites of West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. They will act closely with the Pathology Quality Manager to develop the QMS within Blood Sciences.
Main duties of the job
They will act as Quality Manager for our Chemical Pathology, Haematology, Blood Transfusion, Immunology, POCT, Laboratory Anti-coagulation services, and Phlebotomy services.
Through the processes they control and develop, the Quality Manager will be expected to provide the reassurances required ensuring that clinical governance and risk management within Blood Sciences is controlled and compliant to relevant accreditation standards and regulatory bodies.
The post holder will be an enthusiastic, well-motivated individual with excellent attention to detail. They will have excellent communication & interpersonal skills demonstrating the ability to work with staff at all levels both internal and external to the organisation. You will be able to work as part of a team and understand how vital maintaining good staff/ customer relationships and providing high levels of service are in a Pathology laboratory environment.
