Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional nursing leader to join the cancer service division. The Head of Nursing will be responsible for leading on clinical standards and supporting the matrons, clinical nurse specialists, nurses, nurse consultant allied health professionals including ACPs and support worker across a number of specialities including oncology, haematology, cancer performance and outpatients.
You will ensure that patients and staff are safe, cared for and listened to. We are looking for an innovative, inclusive leader with exceptional communication skills to inspire confidence in others and be committed to delivering improvement in clinical practice and contribute towards the trusts quality objectives and the achievement of high clinical standards of care within the division. You can work autonomously and provide compassionate professional advice and are committed to a flexible, visible and responsive approach to your work. You will be an experienced professional leader with an in depth knowledge of governance and assurance mechanisms with extensive knowledge of and experience in the operational management.
You will champion the Trust values demonstrating compassionate leadership in all you do. Working alongside the divisional leadership team you will provide operational leadership, working across the organisation and system to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care, that is responsive to the needs of the populations we serve.
Main duties of the job
Reporting to the Divisional Director of Nursing for Cancer Services and working with the divisional leadership team, the post holder will be a key member of the management team, enabling the delivery of outstanding services in accordance with agreed objectives, targets, quality standards, controls and resource constraints as set out in the business plans for the services delivered by the Division. The Head of Nursing will ensure high quality nursing care in the cancer division, whilst promoting the excellence in all areas of clinical practice in order to deliver a high-quality patient-led service which is dynamic, proactive and responsive to health needs.

Following your Corporate Induction you will be expected to attend the Trusts 2-week Induction Programme for RNs, NAs, RMs, ODPs and Paramedics. The programme is full-time (please email mtw-tr.professionalstandards@nhs.net if this is problematic)and will involve travel to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area, classroom-based sessions and e-learning.
Please note that appointment to this post will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service Check at Enhanced Level. (Enhanced level now includes regulated checks against vulnerable adults and children)
