Job summary

ULHT has Pharmacy departments based at Lincoln, Boston and Grantham. The department has a well-integrated team of Pharmacists, Technicians, Assistants and Administrative personnel, who provide a pharmacy service to a range of general and specialist areas including Medical & Surgical, Haematology & Oncology and Critical Care.

The department is supportive of development and provides a range of staff training, suitable for the development of their role.

In addition, ULHT has a new purpose built Aseptic facility located on Lincolnshire Science & Innovation Park, which prepares Chemotherapy, TPN and CIVAS products.

The Aseptic Service is undergoing exciting developments to support the trust with safer preparation of injectable medicines. The facility recently become operational and is providing critical treatments for patients across Lincolnshire.

These developments mean we have a number of exciting roles available within Aseptic Services and are looking for those people interested in the preparation of injectable medicines and are interested in providing a critical service to the patients across ULHT, to join our amazing Aseptic team.

Main duties of the job

Detailed JD & Main responsibilities

To assist the Senior Aseptic Services Technicians in the effective and safe operational running of the Boole Aseptic Facility (BAF) including supervision of the day to day workload and training of staff.

To ensure staff are undertaking activities following department standard operating procedures and work in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Good Distribution Practice (GDP).

  • 4 GCSEs (A*-C) including Maths and Science subject
  • NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or Science Manufacturing Process Operative or equivalent

Experience

Essential

  • oWorking with patients/customers/people
  • oHandling medicines in an Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Unit, NHS environment, GP surgery or Pharmacy
  • oPrevious experience of working towards and meeting deadlines

Desirable

  • oExperience gained to NVQ3 or equivalent level
  • oPrevious experience in working in a Hospital Pharmacy setting
  • oPrevious experience of working in a pharmacy aseptic unit (Section 10 or Licensed)

Experience

  • oGood communication skills both verbal and written English.
  • oAbility to communicate factual information to other staff/patients; overcome communication difficulties
  • oGood interpersonal skills
  • oAbility to work without constant supervision and as part of a team
  • oAbility to plan own tasks and those of other pharmacy support worker(s)
  • oAbility to receive, understand and convey technical information clearly
  • oAbility to work to set procedures
