Job summary

This exciting HCSW post offers the opportunity to work as part of the Community Children's Nursing Team, based at Pilgrim Hospital, Boston. The post holder will be required to work flexibly to undertake clinical community visits as directed by and under the supervision of the Community Children's Nurses and provide additional support which includes duties such as management of equipment and servicing and ordering of supplies. The local team consists of a Team Leader, Band 6 CCN's, a HCSW and admin support. You must be able to travel independently across the county and on occasion may be required to provide cover for teams based in Grantham or Lincoln.

In return we will support your development with an annual appraisal, provide relevant training opportunities and offer regular 1:1 support meetings with the Team Leader.

Main duties of the job

Applicants should demonstrate an ability to work as part of a team in caring for children at homein the community following an acute episode of hospitalisation or those with long term conditions including complex health care needs. It is essential that you are able to work unsupervised and that you have experience working with children with additional healthcare needs in a community setting i.e. health, education, social care.

To undertake home visits to deliver supplies, collect specimens, support families and to carry out clinical care under supervision of one of the Community Children's NursesTo assist with distraction and chaperoning as necessaryTo assist with the clinical care of children under the support and guidance of the Community Children's NursesTo carry out simple dressings and collect samplesTo maintain accurate records of all contacts made with the child and family, which should be available to colleagues, senior nursing/medical staff. Records should reflect the present condition and progress of thechild.To support, communicate and work co-operatively with all colleagues in the Team, respecting their skills, expertise and contributionsTo participate in the collection of peripheral venepuncture sampling for children on the caseload and correctly labelling samples prior to delivery to the Pathology LaboratoryFor further details regarding the job role please see the attached Job Description and Person Specification.
