Clinical Lead Respiratory Physiotherapist - Critical Care & Surgery
Hull University Teaching Hospitals are seeking a Band 7 Clinical Lead Physiotherapist to join our diverse team of allied health professionals.
The post holder will be responsible for Clinical Leadership within the Critical Care & Surgery team at Castle Hill. They will predominantly be focused on Cardiothoracic Surgery and Cardiology, however, share responsibility for the entire section including ICU and General surgery, with flexibility in work area essential.
You will jointly co-ordinate the on-call rota, including rota management and maintenance of Respiratory skill across the department.
The post holder will work alongside the MDT to plan, coordinate, deliver and evaluate the therapy service provided to patients referred to the service. As a Clinical Lead Physiotherapist, you will have advanced levels of clinical expertise in the assessment and treatment of respiratory conditions.
You will take responsibility for the overall professional and organisational development of the therapy service. A high regard for clinical operations and governance, assuring high standards of patient centred care is required.

Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for leading, planning and coordinating the delivery of Physiotherapy within Critical Care and Surgical caseload promoting active recovery and supporting with patient flow, demonstrating strong clinical focus following routine and complex surgery.
You will be responsible for coordinating the on-call rota at Castle Hill, including rota production & management, arranging emergency cover (including unsocial hours) and ensuring staff are clinically competent for on-call duties. You will work closely with other respiratory staff to educate and upskill staff.
It is essential that the service remains up to date with evidence-based practice, you will be responsible for projects and audits to ensure the service is effective and be able to change practice and protocol when new evidence becomes available.
Key working relationships include Therapies Operational Lead and fellow Clinical Lead Therapists. As well as an active role within the MDT, developing relationships with consultant surgeons and anaesthetists, ACP's, Ward sister and nursing team, alongside further members of the team, which is vital for promoting effective post-operative care. Attending MDT and governance meetings when required.
