Job summary

The Resuscitation Training Officer will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery and evaluation of a comprehensive training portfolio--including BLS, ILS, and simulation--ensuring all instruction aligns with Resuscitation Council (UK) standards and Trust policy. Beyond education, the post holder will drive service quality by conducting critical audits on equipment, EWS, and ReSPECT, while contributing expert clinical research and data to incident investigations and policy updates. By supporting the Resuscitation Manager in training needs analysis and report generation, this role ensures the Trust maintains a robust, compliant, and evidence-based response to physical health emergencies.

Main duties of the job

The Resuscitation Officer is responsible for delivering a comprehensive range of training--including CPR, BLS, ILS, First Aid, and simulation--to ensure staff meet the clinical standards set by the Resuscitation Council (UK), CQC, and other regulatory bodies. Beyond education, the role provides expert professional support to foster a patient-focused emergency response and contributes to the continuous review of vital safety frameworks, such as NEWS2 and PEWS, to enhance clinical governance across the Trust.

  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience
  • Teaching qualification - PTTLS/ Level 3/5 Education and Training or equivalent
  • Experience in training in BLS, ILS and simulation to registered and nonregistered staff

Knowledge/Experience

Essential

  • Can demonstrate current clinical credibility and competence
  • Evidence of organising and delivering resuscitation courses and mock scenarios, and leading the delivery of them
  • Experience of managing training resources and equipment
  • Knowledge of clinical governance issues and in particular, risk management, NHSLA, CQC and NEWS2, PEWS requirements, as they apply to resuscitation and first aid at work
  • Extensive experience of designing, developing and delivering resuscitation and first aid training events to staff at all levels
  • Experience in facilitation and coaching
  • Undertake surveys and audits to ensure compliance with Trust and external requirements in resuscitation and first aid training, in accordance with the Trust's relevant policies and as directed
  • Undertake regular quality assurance checks of the resuscitation and first aid training processes and equipment, in accordance with the relevant Trust policies
  • Participate in audits as required or directed by external agencies in matters of resuscitation
