We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist to work within the Gynae Oncology team working alongside the multi professional clinical and medical team, Macmillan Clinical Nurse Specialists, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Macmillan Cancer Care Co ordinator, Cancer Navigator and Gynae Oncology Matron/ACP, to deliver a supportive nursing service for patients and their families undergoing treatment and/or investigations for cancer conditions across all sites at MFT.The successful candidate will play a key role within the Advanced Nursing Team, providing individualised care to our patients and their families/carers through Inpatient and Outpatient Care, Holistic Needs Assessments and Stratified Follow-Up. The post holder will work with colleagues and the Gynae Oncology Matron to deliver a supportive nursing service for patients and their families undergoing treatment and investigations for cancer conditions.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide a specialist nursing service offering holistic patient centred care to women who are being investigated with a high risk of malignancy, being treated & living beyond cancer. As a clinical nurse specialist the post holder will provide a high quality nursing service to patients and their families with gynaecological cancers. They will support & mentor junior colleagues within the Macmillan team providing skills & knowledge in the effective management of patients. They will act as a clinical expert & professional resource within the multi professional team, patients & carers for the Gynae Oncology service. The post-holder will lead on education and training to patients, carers, and healthcare professionals with support from the Gynae Oncology Matron & other senior Clinical Nurse Specialists.
The post holder will support the Matron to ensure successful implementation of initiatives to improve NHS cancer services including implementation of PIFU & PSFU, and that all patients are offered holistic needs assessments, personalised care plans & treatment summaries. We are a Managed clinical service providing a service across the whole of MFT therefore will be expected to work cross site as required. At present the post holder will not be expected to work weekends.
