Job summary

This post involves assisting in the delivery and development of the CAMHS Specialist Community Services - Learning Disabilities and Autism, and supporting Clinical Psychologist and Specialist Learning Disability Nurses in their direct work with children and young people and their families.

The post holder will assist with a wide range of duties at all stages of service delivery - assessment, intervention, and evaluation. Duties may include the development of resources, audit and service development, triage calls to parents, direct work with children and young people, and support to parent group delivery.

The post holder will also be expected to assist team clinicians in the preparation, delivery and evaluation of a variety of clinical, teaching and service development tasks. The post holder will act under the supervision of a Senior Clinical Psychologist and will receive regular supervision

Main duties of the job

1. Departmental Information systems

1.1 The post holder will be expected to input data onto the trust electronic patient record system

2. Assistance with Clinical tasks

2.1 Under supervision, the post holder will be expected to assist the clinical team, in implementing psychological interventions with autistic children and young people, and young people with learning disabilities.

2.2 In undertaking these duties, the post holder will be expected to communicate sensitive information with children, families, and parent groups both verbally and in writing.

2.3 The post holder will be expected to assist and support the delivery of the "Riding the Rapids" programme

3. Assistance with teaching and research tasks

3.1 The post holder will be expected to assist clinicians in undertaking teaching and training.

4. Planning and organisation

4.1The post holder will be provided with a job plan to support them to organise their day to day work tasks and activities . Guidance will be provided via weekly supervision with a member of the clinical team.

  • You must have a recognised qualification - Degree in Psychology at a 2:1 or above

Desirable

  • First class honours degree in psychology
  • A level results

Experience
