Job summary
The work of the analyst will be driven by the 0-19 service. The role is to support the service to manage and develop their services, providing timely information and analysis allowing them to be both informed and effective.
The post holder will need to use local data to improve health outcomes for Children and Families.
Although a proportion of time will be spent at their desk, the business analyst will also be expected to get out into the business unit, attending business unit meetings etc. Close working will enable the information service to deliver a more responsive, relevant and proactive service.
*To understand the strategic objectives of the 0-19 service and translate these into meaningful and effective reporting processes
*To help support the service with demand and capacity/benchmarking
*Support clinicians and senior management team to understand data and how to use reports to maximise benefits to the service
*Be experts in the Trusts systems so that data can be integrated across multiple sources, where possible automating production of this
*Promote the use of the Trust Data Warehouse and Insights and support in developing new functionality
*To keep up to date on the statutory reporting requirements of local Commissioners, Department of Health and National NHS reporting; sharing any new developments
*Ensuring the Information Governance aspects of dealing with patient data and reporting are recognised and where risks are identified processes are put in place to minimise these
Main duties of the job
The business analyst will become expert in the assigned business areas, providing advice, guidance, and support regarding the collection, use and interpretation of information to business unit staff and third party or in house system providers.
To work in partnership with service leads, data analyst team and commissioners, to manage data validation is responsible for extracting, analysing, and presenting highly complex data to internal, external customers and stakeholders, tailoring outputs to the diverse needs of different audiences, and providing advice and insight to support business critical decisions. To pioneer data collection processes for 0-19 Service in response to growing data requirements from stake holders, Commissioners, and any outside relevant bodies.
Responsible to deliver analytical products including highly complex modelling to support the reporting of management information and insight delivering quality information.
To respond to complex enquiries sensitively, offer advice and negotiate on the process that will be followed.

*Analyse data, interpret and report and present results
*Lead in the design and creation of performance monitoring reports and bespoke and ad hoc reports
*Provide expert advice, guidance, and support regarding the collection, use and interpretation of information
*Have an expert knowledge of the information requirements for their assigned business units, both current and future
*Develop and design health related data sets and information
*Support managers in the 0-19 service to enable them to utilise available reporting tools
Undertake reporting and analysis of information as delegated by the Service Manager. To be responsible for all aspects of data management to the 0-19 service, monitoring, validating, and reporting on activity, supporting audit and project work and providing analysis for service assessment and ongoing improvement. Delivering training to new users and liaising with IT colleagues where necessary. Conducting expert and advanced analysis and develop methods to collect, collate and evaluate quantitative and qualitative highly complex and sensitive data using appropriate query tools.
Communicating and presenting highly complex and highly sensitive data and analysis effectively at all levels and to both internal and external stakeholders, to both technical and non-technical audiences both verbally and in writing. Ensuring the information provided is accessible and understandable to a wide audience and conforms to high standards
Planning and organising own workload and manage activities or projects requiring formulation or adjustment. Undertake any other duties commensurate with the role as agreed with line manager and role holder.
*To provide and receive complex information and communicate statisitical matters/system changes to non-analytical professionals, advising on issues of data standards and quality as necessary and in a timely manner
*To undertake the collation and submission of monthly reports to support the commissioned contract, statistical returns and other reports, ensuring accuracy and disseminating useful conclusions and information within the service
*To support the audit process within the 0-19 service
*To ensure robust processes for data collection and effective validation are in place
*To monitor the teams' performance against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and be proactive in their resolution and escalation, working with Senior Managers, Team members and key stakeholders
*To work with Senior Managers to address new or changed data collection requirements
*To attend training and assist in the roll out of new guidelines/statistical requirements across the 0-19 service
*Support technological innovation within the service. Attend meetings, forums or work groups and work with other Trust areas on initiatives for IT development to improve service delivery. Provide training to multi-disciplinary colleagues on Insights as required
*Responsible for proactively contributing to the maintenance and development of data and administration systems and processes maximising the use of technology
*Carry out in depth analysis of information held on various databases. Using data query tools, spreadsheets and business intelligence tools to extract and manipulate and present the information required.

Understand the business needs of the customer, discussing with them their information requirements and making judgements and recommendations on the best way they can be met.
