Job summary
We are very proud to offer our patients a JAG accredited endoscopy service that support upper and lower GI diagnoses and therapeutic interventions. We have a large supportive outpatient's service that will support patients with gastroenterological needs and the previous post holders have successfully set up specialist nurse lead clinics for patient groups. The team have close links with primary care and the team at UHS. Early education and support of patients is a key priority for the team. Additionally the service forms part of the Community Diagnostic Centre programme with an exciting array of development and expansion opportunities.
We are looking for an experienced Nurse Endoscopist with upper GI experience to join our friendly and supportive team of nurses, support workers and consultants. Working at specialist level would be essential; demonstrating the 4 pillars of advanced practice would be reflected in your job planning and career development.
The endoscopy team have high levels of staff satisfaction and retention, so this is an excellent opportunity to join the team and help to develop the service and to grow its own expert clinicians for the future.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide gastrointestinal endoscopic investigation for the diagnosis, management and clinical care (including treatments) of patients with gastrointestinal disorders using specialist knowledge and skills.
*Key enabler in meeting Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust strategic agenda, with specific regard to the development of autonomous nursing practice and nurse led services. This will include direct and indirect patient care, non-medical prescribing, role modelling, mentorship, supervision, education and the facilitation of others to develop nurses working at Lymington New Forest Hospital Endoscopy for role expansion.
*The focus of the role will be clinical (minimum 70%). The role will effect the following including but not limited to:
Endoscopy -- upper and lower GI tract procedures including diagnostic, and surveillance;
Clinics -- Out-patient for post direct access OGD follow-ups, upper and lower GI tract chronic disease management and virtual review of stabilised chronic conditions.
