Community Perinatal Nursery Nurse
This job is now closed
Job summary
The Community Perinatal Mental Health Service currently has an exciting opportunity to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic Nursery Nurse to join the Team. The nursery nurse's role is a pivotal one within the Multidisciplinary perinatal team -- with a varied and diverse profile of interventions offered to women/birthing people and their families at a very crucial time of the parent/s and child's life. This is a fantastic opportunity to enhance family well-being within this mental health specialism.
The Hampshire and IOW Perinatal Community Mental Health Team provides mental health support and services for women/birthing people and their families during pregnancy and up to 24 months after birth. The team prioritizes women/birthing people with moderate to severe and complex mental health needs. The service also provides consultation for advice, information, and signposting for women/birthing people with a less severe mental illness in the perinatal period to primary care providers including GPs, Health visitors and maternity services as well as the women themselves.
Main duties of the job
The successful post holder will be part of an innovative service providing specialist assessment, support and treatment for women/birthing people and their families.
You will be expected to visit women/birthing people in their own homes or at other premises; therefore, a car driver is essential for this role. You will need to be able to work autonomously in the community and use your own initiative.
Your main responsibilities would be to:
Provide practical support to antenatal and post-natal women/birthing people in the community.
Support women/birthing people in enhancing the attachment and bonding process.
Provide high-quality care and emotional support at all times.
Provide families with best practice in baby care.
Provide advice and support on all aspects of baby care.
Participate in the assessment of needs, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care programmes for women/birthing people and their babies.
Maintain our service users' confidentiality and adhere to the Trust's Policies and Procedures.
Help supporting families to understand the baby's perspective.
You will have the opportunity to work in a supportive and highly skilled Nursery nurse cohort within the wider perinatal multidisciplinary team. There will be opportunities to learn from peers as well as gain internal and external training opportunities within the specialism of perinatal mental health care.
