An opportunity has arisen for a part-time Band 7 Clinical Psychologist to join the Learning Disability CAMHS team in Bristol.
LD CAMHS work with children up to 18 years old who have a Moderate to Severe Learning Disability and who experience a range of mental health needs and challenging behaviour.
The successful applicant will join a small established, and friendly multidisciplinary team consisting of Psychiatry, Psychology, Nursing, Support Workers and Admin.
The post holder will provide specialist clinical psychology assessment, formulation and treatment to young people and their families, specialist schools and the wider network.
The successful candidate will have an interest and experience in working with children and families with moderate to severe LD.

Main duties of the job
The main duties are to hold a caseload of young people presenting with complex and enduring mental health and challenging behaviour in the context of having a moderate to severe LD.
You will use integrative assessment and formulation skills drawing from Positive Behaviour Support, and Functional Behaviour Assessments, psychometrics assessments, clinical interviews and direct observations in order to create treatment plans with the young person and their network.
You will assess and manage complex risk with the young people.
You will provide specialist clinical psychology consultation, training and supervision to the wider Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) in LD CAMHS including trainees, students and nursing staff.
You will work with the wider care systems which impact on the welfare of our families.
You will participate fully in the development of the service as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, to include involvement in clinical activity (audit and evaluation of the service, outcome evaluation and governance).
You will liaise well with referrers, families, social care and schools alongside teams to offer effective interventions.

The post holder will provide either direct individual or group treatments for service users, and/or provide supervision and training to other staff, enabling the provision of high quality psychologically informed practice and support within the team.

The post holder will work as a member of the multidisciplinary team, facilitating the integration of a psychological perspective into the teams understanding of the clinical issues. They will provide training and reflective practice forums to support the professional development of their teams and will supervise other disciplines in the provision of high-quality psychological interventions.

The post holder will be expected to attend training and CPD events as appropriate to their role.
To offer regular clinical supervision (both individual and group) to peers, trainees and other professionals from the locality and other parts of the service, including teachers in special schools and social care colleagues.
