An exciting opportunity is available working in the Emergency Department at Southmead Hospital. We are looking for an enthusiastic, confident, reliable and competent individual who wishes to work in a very busy, yet rewarding role based our Emergency Department.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the management, nursing and doctor teams; undertaking pivotal and varied administration tasks to support the efficiency and running of the Emergency Department.
Main duties of the job
To provide exceptional administrative and clerical support to a number of clinicians, managers and/or their teams. You will be responsible for ensuring a high quality service and coordinating the administrative support of clinical activity, working in close cooperation with all staff groups and other medical professionals
This will include monitoring reports, 4 hour breach performance validation, liaising with consultants, clinical and management teams, diary management/booking systems, meeting minutes typing, supplies and stores ordering, processing documentation within the Trust and other healthcare providers, including but not limited to general administrative and clerical tasks and duties, whilst ensuring processes and systems are monitored and evaluated to meet both Trust and National targets
The post holder will work in partnership with the multidisciplinary team ensuring the need to exercise initiative, independent judgement and decision making within a variety of situations. To work in a team based administrative service within the Emergency Zone providing support for each other and ensuring continuity of the service

- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, to include English and Mathematics
- Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office)

- Knowledge of medical terminology
- RSA or equivalent typing, or demonstrated extensive experience and skills
Work experience

- Extensive administrative and clerical experience
- Excellent IT skills with proficiency in word processing, digital dictation, database and spreadsheet packages - working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook, and experience of using Excel
- To be able to plan, co-ordinate and implement small projects relevant to job role, such as setting up new processes or streamline/improve existing procedures
- Must be able to demonstrate working under pressure in a busy team environment, with organisational and prioritisation for more than one clinician
- Input of diary meeting entries, room and catering bookings, as well as carrying out the organisation of agendas and meeting minute taking experience
