CAMHS Specialist Support Worker (Whole School Approach)

Job summary

The post holder will provide support to schools within the Mental Health Support team (MHST) using the 'Whole-school Approach' to improve the mental health and emotional wellbeing of children and young people in Harrow schools/colleges.

The post holder will work with the whole school community (teaching professionals, children, parents, volunteers, and support staff) to break down stigma around mental health issues, and support children to become more resilient so they are better equipped to understand and manage their emotions and behaviour.

This will involve working closely and collaboratively with a range of other organisations and key partners supporting the Early Intervention services.

The post holder will be involved in the development and delivery of practical support, resources, training and psychoeducational sessions to school staff, other professionals, students, and their parents/carers across Harrow. The hours of operation are Monday to Friday 9-5.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the whole 'System' that is the NHS, Local Authority and the third sector to a deliver high quality, effective and efficient service and system responses to:

Improve the experience of CYP

Improve the experience of Parent/carers & families

Improve Access

Improve Quality of care

The post holder will work as part of the MHST team providing support to CYP within the community under the direct or indirect supervision of senior clinical staff.

Qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ II in Care, project management qualification and or good standard of education or equivalent experience

Desirable

  • European Computer Driving License (ECDL)

Experience and Knowledge

  • Previous experience of working with children, young people and families
  • Positive attitude towards working with people with a learning difficulty or autism spectrum disorders
  • Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of equality and diversity issues and the ability to integrate into employment policies and practices
