An opportunity has arisen for two motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our fully flexible and multi hospital site team.
This post is initially appointed to on an Agenda for Change Band 2. The candidates will then undertake a 12 month period of shopfloor and online training culminating in their being signed off as proficient in all aspects of the operational role.
2 x City and Guilds Examinations covering the main principles of sterilisation and decontamination then have to be passed. At this point the Endoscopy Decontamination Assistant post will become a fully qualified Endoscopy Decontamination Technician post Band 3 - subject to completion of all of the above.
The Base for this post is The James Cook University Hospital but will work between Friarage Hospital and Redcar Primary Care too
Main duties of the job
General duties include manually cleaning and automated processing of flexible endoscopes which have been used in surgical/testing procedures within the Endoscopy/Theatres and other clinical departments within the three South Tees hospitals (James Cook, Friarage and Redcar Primary Care Hospital).
It includes operation of Endoscope Washer Disinfectors (EWD's) and endoscope storage/drying cabinets plus any other related endoscope decontamination equipment.
The successful candidates will also learn to use our computerised flexible endoscope tracking and traceability system. This includes production of labelling and documentation to prove compliance with all of the required decontamination standards.
Some experience in endoscope decontamination procedures would be an advantage but is not essential.
Full training will be given in all of the above.
