An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Education and Training and Clinical Pharmacy Technician to join a dynamic pharmacy team to facilitate and deliver education and training, to support the development of pharmacy staff and to deliver operational and clinical pharmacy services to the patients and staff at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The position is a full time "split" post, with four days of the week dedicated to education and training and one day providing a clinical service to one of our wards.

You will be a key member of the Pharmacy Education and Training team, working closely with the Senior Technician for Education and Training and the Technician for Education and Training across the Tees Valley.

The role will involve contributing to and the implementation of the education and training strategies for pharmacy staff including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, trainee technicians and support staff. This is an exciting time to be involved in education and training with a national push to expand the technician workforce. Main duties of the job

You must hold an accreditation in Medicines Optimisation which meets the standards of the National Medicines Management Framework, or be studying towards such an accreditation.

You must also hold an accuracy checking accreditation with a recognised body, be studying towards such an accreditation, or have completed this competency as part of pre-registration training.

Accreditation in regional Medicines Optimisation modules 1 - 4, or equivalent, is essential and experience of education and training in a hospital setting is desirable.

Applicants should be a pharmacy technician registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.

  • To deliver, contribute to and implement the pharmacy department's education and training strategy
  • Deliver induction training to new starters within the department
  • To supervise and co-ordinate training for pharmacy technicians working towards accuracy checking programmes
  • To supervise, contribute and co-ordinate training for pharmacy pre-registration technicians and assistants working towards various Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications
  • To carry out educational supervisor duties including review and internal verification of portfolios for various training programmes/qualifications
  • Attend regional education and training meetings representing the trust
  • Communicate with external training providers where appropriate.
